Carole Groobman, mother, grandmother, actress/storyteller, workshop facilitator and former postpartum, graduated cum laude from Cornish College of the Arts in 1998 with a BFA in acting. She received doula certification from Seattle Midwifery School also in 1998 and had her
business, Care Giving Postpartum Doula Service, for eleven years. Previously a single mom, she worked as an Artist-in-Education, created and hosted her radio program, “Family Story Hour,” conducted creative workshops for adults, and performed as a professional storyteller and singer throughout the N.W. and Canada.
In 1998 listening to her clients’ birthing stories, mostly about medical events, and unlike her empowered, spiritual homebirth experiences, she felt called to write a show and marry her two careers. Four and a half years later, through reams of research and countless interviews, material enough for six shows, and with help from a theater director, the material was skillfully distilled into FORCE OF NATURE, a birth unto itself.
A one-woman show and educational program, FORCE OF NATURE brings 13 women’s stories and perspectives about childbirth to the stage. She will be presenting her one act show Saturday Night, May 4, 2019.FON Benefit FLYER
